The association Frauen helfen Frauen e.V. Lübeck helps women and their children who are affected and threatened by physical and psychological violence.

Life in a women's shelter breaks the cycle of violence. The women, with and without children, try out new paths and gain not only self-confidence, self-awareness, and self-efficacy, but also a sense of social responsibility.
Donations are needed for various purposes, for example, to conduct excursions and courses. Sports activities such as swimming lessons, dance classes, cycling courses, or riding lessons, as well as cultural activities such as cinema visits or exhibitions,.
Those who flee to a women's refuge risk a lot and give up even more. Families or women who flee to a women's refuge are not always entitled to social benefits and help from the „Tafel“ or clothing donations is not always enough. Some children need school utensils, tickets to Germany or school (public transport), medical care and possibly also travel expenses for another flight.
For this reason, we welcome donations to our „emergency fund,“ which can provide quick and uncomplicated initial financial assistance to women and families in need.
The rooms and common areas of the women's shelter are subjected to wear and tear throughout the year. Many items, such as the beds and mattresses, are in need of replacement. Simple, functional, yet also cozy furnishings in the house convey a sense of welcome to the women and children. Many women and children spend a lot of time in the house due to the danger and threat posed by the perpetrator, as well as limited financial resources; some go out very little. Quality of living and self-esteem are closely linked.
