The association
The purpose of the association is to protect, advise, support and accompany women and children who are threatened or affected by violence in order to process and overcome the violence they have experienced and to develop individual life plans for a future free of violence.
With professional help and advice, women, children, and adolescents can discover their potential, protect themselves from immediate (acute) violence, and in the medium term, access educational opportunities and explore employment options.
Since 1977, we have been protecting women and children who are threatened by or affected by violence.
Gender-based violence is a structural problem in our society. As a women's shelter, we offer protection to all women affected by violence.
This means all persons who identify as women (this includes transgender women and cisgender women). Non-binary or intersex individuals who are affected by patriarchal, domestic, or relationship violence are also welcome if they can identify with this project.
All children of women affected by violence, including boys up to 18 years of age, may stay with their mothers in the women's shelter. Unfortunately, pets cannot be accommodated.
The association provides temporary accommodation in a women's shelter for women and their children who have experienced violence.
Furthermore, he will manage the women's shelter, including the "Laden 58" shop and "Lübecker Stadtmütter," on a voluntary basis.
Education and/or employment form a necessary foundation for sustainable violence prevention.
To achieve this goal, the association focuses on empowerment, participation, diversity and a holistic approach to educational work as well as networking and cooperation in socio-political engagement.
Favoritism towards women and children, feminism, gender equality, anti-racist work, a democratic/discrimination-free self-perception, education and participation, self-help assistance, and the safeguarding of human rights are the cornerstones of our daily work.
The organization offers counseling for women who want to change their situation of violence.
The association operates in a self-governing, unbureaucratic manner with democratic structures among the residents and employees of the women's shelter and the participants of the Lübeck City Mothers.
The association is an employer; it is the tenant of the building and the association's rooms, and a contractual partner for the City of Lübeck and the State of Schleswig-Holstein.
